West Hazleton man

facing firearm offenses

HAZLETON — City police arrested Brandon Christopher Crum, 32, on firearm offenses after investigating gunfire in the area of Carson and East Seventh streets early Friday.

Police said they responded to the area at about 3:30 a.m. and spotted Crum and another man.

An officer ordered Crum and the other man to show their hands.

Crum bent over in front of a vehicle and the other man fled on foot.

Police allege they found a Taurus .40-caliber handgun near Crum. They said the handgun was reported stolen April 5.

Crum was arraigned by District Judge Thomas Malloy in Wilkes-Barre on charges of receiving stolen property, public drunkenness, illegal possession of a firearm and firearms not to be carried without a license. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $75,000 bail.

Wallet stolen at nightclub

WILKES-BARRE — A 29-year-old man reported to city police Friday that his wallet was stolen from Heat Nightclub on North Main Street. The victim was told by patrons that a black male — about 5 feet 8 inches, with a skinny build and tattoos on his face — stole his wallet.

Gas container stolen

WILKES-BARRE — A 43-year-old man from Scott Street reported to city police Thursday that a teenage white male stole a gasoline container from his front porch.

WB resident accused

of domestic violence

WILKES-BARRE — City police arrested Steven Antonik, 31, of Wilkes-Barre, after he allegedly struck a woman during a domestic disturbance on Sambourne Street late Thursday. Antonik was arraigned Friday by District Judge Brian Tupper in Kingston Township on charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

Pedestrian struck by vehicle

WILKES-BARRE — City police said the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after striking a 48-year-old man on South Washington Street at about 10:55 p.m. Tuesday. The victim was struck in the leg and knocked to the ground. He was treated at an area hospital.

Purse stolen from cart

WILKES-BARRE TWP. — A woman reported to township police Tuesday her purse was stolen from a shopping cart while she loaded groceries into her vehicle outside Walmart.

Five iPhones taken

in WB Twp. burglary

WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Five iPhone SEs were stolen during a burglary at Metro PCS in the East End Centre early Tuesday. Police said surveillance cameras recorded three juveniles smash a window and enter the business at about 2:21 a.m.

One suspect is about 5 feet tall, approximately 100 pounds, possibly a black female, and wore a red hooded sweatshirt and gray pants. The second suspect is described as being 5 feet tall, approximately 100 pounds, possibly a black male and wore a dark long-sleeve jacket, gray pants and a hat. The third suspect is a black man about 6 feet 3 inches, approximately 150 pounds, who wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

Front-end loader stolen

WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Township police reported a blue-and-yellow 1988 Komatsu front-end loader was reported stolen July 21 from Mundy Street Self Storage. The vehicle’s serial number is A10511.

WB woman cited

after Plains crash

PLAINS TWP. — Township police cited Sarah Duris, 42, of Wilkes-Barre, with disorderly conduct and harassment after she allegedly struck another person during an argument that ensued after a two-vehicle crash on South River Street at 10:57 a.m. Wednesday.
