HANOVER TWP. — Township police and the Luzerne County Drug Task Force arrested Alonzo Eric McClinton on charges he was peddling crack cocaine in and near the Marion Terrace Apartment Complex.

McClinton, 32, of Scranton and formerly Bronx, New York, was apprehended Saturday.

Authorities allege McClinton sold crack cocaine in the apartment complex and a parking lot of a business at Sans Souci Parkway and King’s Road during July. Several crack cocaine transactions were made with McClinton, authorities allege.

Court records say McClinton was sentenced in Luzerne County Court in August 2014 to one-to-two years in state prison on separate drug trafficking charges by Nanticoke police in May 2013. He was paroled in November 2015, according to court records.

McClinton was also sentenced in Luzerne County Court in March 2017 to six months probation on charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license stemming from a traffic stop on Blackman Street, Wilkes-Barre, in February 2016.

Court records also say McClinton was charged by Nanticoke police in December 2010 for his alleged role in a robbery of a woman on Hanover Street in Nanticoke. Those charges were dismissed at a preliminary hearing in July 2011.

McClinton was arraigned by District Judge Brian Tupper in Kingston Township on four counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $150,000 bail.
