WEST PITTSTON — The West Pittston Police Department recently acquired a KidCents Medication Deposit Box, which allows residents to drop off expired or unwanted medication, according to a press release.

Residents can dispose of medications at the borough building at 555 Exeter Ave. during business hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The department encourages residents who can’t make it during regular business hours to call police and leave a message for the chief so alternative arrangements can be made.

The department is accepting any prescription over-the-counter medication in pill form. It will not accept illegal drugs, needles, lotions or liquids, inhalers, aerosol cans, thermometers or any amount of hydrogen peroxide.

West Pittston Police acquired the box through a Rite Aid Foundation grant.

This service is not just limited to West Pittston residents. Any member of the public is allowed to use the box to dispose of old medications.
