WILKES-BARRE — City police arrested a man after finding marijuana and a pistol in his car during a traffic stop on Saturday night.

Elijah Castera, 21, of Effort, Pa., was stopped by police while driving on South Empire Street for a vehicle code infraction.

When the officer approached the vehicle, marijuana was observed in plain view of the vehicle. Police conducted a further search that revealed a a 9mm semi-automatic pistol along with narcotics per the department’s Facebook page.

Castera was arraigned Sunday morning by District Judge Ferris Webby Sr., on charges of firearms without a license, misbranding of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, use and possession of drug paraphernalia and obscured license plates.

He was unable to post $15,000 bail and remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
