HAZLETON — A man arrested for trespassing and providing false information to law enforcement was also found to be a sex offender, officers say.

Police said they discovered that when Kaborn Pearson, 22, of New Jersey, was fingerprinted. They also learned he was wanted in his home state.

According to a criminal complaint:

Officers responded to 314 W. Green St. for a report of a male trespassing in a home. They later came into contact with Pearson.

He gave a fake name, prompting police to take him into custody.

While in custody, Pearson was identified on the department’s portable identification device, which revealed his real name and indicated he was a sex offender out of New Jersey.

In addition, Pearson was wanted by New Jersey parole officials on a fugitive warrant.

Hazleton Police Chief Jerry Speziale commended his officers’ efforts.

“This is another example of the outstanding work by Hazleton’s Finest in removing a dangerous and wanted individual from our streets,” said Speziale.
