HAZLE TWP. — State Police are searching for a man after he allegedly robbed a Subway restaurant just before 2 p.m. Friday.

The suspect entered the Subway at 196 Airport Beltway — near a Walmart store and the Laurel Mall — and approached the counter while motioning to the cashier that he had a weapon inside his sweatshirt.

He then reached over the counter and removed an unknown amount of cash from the register.

Police say the man fled on foot around the back of the building in the direction of the Holly Lynn Trailer Park.

He was wearing black Nike sneakers, gray sweatpants, a red hooded sweatshirt, black Pittsburgh Steelers gloves and a black mask, troopers report.

The suspect is described as white male in his late teens or early 20s, standing about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, and weighing about 180 pounds. Police noted he had short blond hair.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact State Police at Hazleton at 570-459-3890.
