WILKES-BARRE — Approximately nine shots were fired outside the Ali Baba Lounge just before 3 a.m. Saturday, including two into a vehicle, city police say.
However, no injuries were reported and there have yet to be any arrests.
Officers said they were dispatched to the nightclub at 219 S. Main St at 2:54 a.m. for shots fired outside.
They spoke to a man who said a black male approached him outside the club, and an argument followed.
When the victim began to walk away, the unknown suspect began firing rounds into the ground, according to authorities.
Then, while trying to leave, police say two rounds were fired into the victim’s vehicle.
Police say they are continuing to investigate.
This is the latest in a series of incidents allegedly involving the lounge, though a manager said earlier this summer that some of the bad press has been unjustified.
On July 19, a man from Brooklyn, New York, was shot as he drove away after a fight broke out in area of Ali Baba, police said.
Collin Jones, 26, later died.
Also in July, the lounge was targeted by the city after an official deemed that it wasn’t zoned for entertainment, despite hosting live shows for years.
In addition, the club was embroiled in controversy after an April show by rapper 6ix9ine was cancelled. At the time, he was awaiting sentencing for his guilty plea to the use of a child in a sexual performance.
