Police: Man threatens

another with handgun

HAZLE TWP. — State police arrested Joel Ismael Ramos, 27, Hazleton, on charges he aimed a handgun at another man in the 1000 block of East Diamond Avenue on Monday.

According to a criminal complaint:

Dzemo Ramic told troopers Ramos was at his residence drinking alcohol when an argument ensued. Ramos left Ramic’s house but later returned with a handgun. He aimed it at Ramic and warned, “I’m going to shoot you.”

Ramic claimed Ramos threw the gun as Ramic ran into his residence.

Troopers arrested Ramos when he was found urinating in a backyard of a house on East Diamond Avenue.

Ramos, of East Diamond Avenue, was arraigned Tuesday by District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz in Luzerne County Central Court on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and disorderly conduct. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

PLAINS TWP. — Township police reported McDonald’s Restaurant on River Street was burglarized just after 2 a.m. Monday. Cash was stolen.

Cemetery vandalism

reported in Plains Twp.

PLAINS TWP. — Township police reported 15 headstones were overturned at Anshei Emmes Cemetery on Blanchard Street on Sunday.
