WILKES-BARRE — John Chrin brought his congressional campaign to Luzerne County on Tuesday, stopping at four locations to, as he says, “put his finger on the pulse of voters.”

Chrin stopped in Hazle Township to tour Atlantic Carbon Coal’s strip mining operation and then stopped at Immanuel Christian School, 725 N. Locust St., Hazleton.

Before heading to Pulverman Manufacturing in Dallas, Chrin visited Two Jacks Cycle & Powersports, 338 Coal St., Wilkes-Barre.

“I like to visit businesses and talk to the owners, employees and customers to hear what’s on their minds,” said Chrin. “I want to hear the positives and the negatives so I can get an idea of what’s important to all.”

Chrin, 55, of Monroe County, is the Republican candidate in the 8th Congressional District. He is trying to unseat three-term Democrat Matt Cartwright of Moosic in November.

Chrin met with Bill Davis, owner of Two Jacks, who suggested he look into getting government approval for ATVs and side-by-side vehicles to enter state and federal parks. Chrin said a fee could be charged that would add significant money to the state and federal coffers.

Davis appreciated Chrin coming to his business to discuss issues.

“It’s good of him to check on small businesses like mine,” Davis said. “I asked him to consider looking into getting access for the vehicles we sell here on game lands and parks.”

Davis said he has 16 employees at Two Jacks, the business he has owned since 2008. He sells ATVs, side-by-sides, jet skis and motorcycles.

Chrin said his campaign has been gong well. He said he feels momentum building as the election enters its final weeks, even as Cartwright tries to label him as a Wall Street banker from New Jersey.

“The key is to stay energized and to stay on point,” said the candidate. “I have to emphasize the stark difference between myself and my opponent.”

Chrin said if voters want a congressman who favors higher taxes, job-killing regulations, high costs for health care and sanctuary cities, then they should vote for Cartwright.

“If you think Nancy Pelosi is good for the country, then don’t vote for me,” said Chrin.
