Special needs expo debuts Friday Sept. 28 at Mohegan Sun Pocono

PLAINS TWP. — A new event today will bring together support, resources and information for families who care for loved ones with developmental, neurological, psychological, behavioral or physical disabilities.

Brighter Journeys’ inaugural “Special Needs Expo: Connecting the Dots,” is slated for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 28) at Mohegan Sun Pocono. The event is free.

The schedule of events is:

• 11 a.m.-6 p.m.: 50 resource tables available to families and caregivers all day.

• 11:30-11:45 am: Introduction by Lisa Urbanski, Co-Founder, Brighter Journeys.

• 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Kristin Ahrens, Acting Deputy Secretary for the Office of Developmental Programs.

• 1-2 p.m.: Thomas Challman, MD, FAAP, Geisinger’s Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute.

In addition, there will be breakout sessions from 2-4 p.m.
