Music instructor accused of grabbing breasts of ex-student

PLAINS TWP. — A private music instructor was recently arraigned on charges he molested a former female student, according to court records.

Township police and Luzerne County detectives charged William Angelo Stella, 59, of School Street, with indecent assault. He was arraigned by District Judge Daniel O’Donnell in Sugarloaf and released on $20,000 unsecured bail.

According to a criminal complaint:

A woman told investigators she took drum lessons from Stella at his business, Billy Angelo Stella Drummer’s Workshop, for several years until December 2017.

On the woman’s 18th birthday in September, she visited Stella and he told her to return so they could jam out.

The woman claimed they scheduled to meet on Sept. 25, when Stella made lewd comments about wanting to see her naked.

She alleged she was playing drums as Stella was playing a keyboard. During a break, she claimed Stella reached his arm across her body and squeezed her breasts while making an offensive comment.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 17 in Luzerne County Central Court.
