Edwardsville woman accused of stabbing boyfriend in weekend incident

EDWARDSVILLE — A woman was arraigned Tuesday for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend during an argument last weekend.

Borough police charged Layla Marie Lugo, 24, of Main Street, Edwardsville, after Dylan Lee Kihefner claimed she stabbed him inside her apartment Sunday, court records say.

After being stabbed, Kihefner went to a bar in Edwardsville and called a friend, who gave him a ride to a residence on Scarboro Avenue in Exeter, authorities report.

Police in Exeter were called and later contacted officers in Edwardsville, who spoke with Kihefner at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.

According to a criminal complaint:

Kihefner claimed he was arguing with Lugo about trust issues when Lugo said she didn’t want to talk anymore.

After the two punched each other, Kihefner claimed Lugo opened a pocketknife and swung at him several times, striking him in the chest and shoulders.

Two roommates convinced Kihefner to leave the apartment when he called a friend from a bar.

Lugo was arraigned by District Judge Joseph Carmody in Luzerne County Central Court on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. She was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
