Kingston noise call
leads to man’s arrest
KINGSTON — Police investigating a noise complaint at an apartment building on North Sprague Avenue arrested Mario Miranda, 36, on charges he provided a false name Sunday.
According to a criminal complaint:
Police responded to a call for loud noise at a second-floor apartment at 329 N. Sprague Ave. just before 10 p.m.
As an officer climbed the stairs to reach the door, about 20 feet from the ground, three men who appeared intoxicated emerged from the door claiming they were watching football.
Miranda claimed he did not have an identification card and told the officer his name was Xavier. But a second officer recognized Miranda from a previous incident.
Miranda stuttered and was not able to spell Xavier.
He struggled with officers when he was handcuffed.
Miranda was arraigned Monday by District Judge Joseph Spagnuolo in Luzerne County Central Court on charges of resisting arrest, false identification to law enforcement and disorderly conduct. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $15,000 bail.
