WILKES-BARRE — A Duryea man who smelled strongly of alcohol and kept passing out was arrested on charges he caused a disturbance inside the lobby of Geisinger Urgent Care on Monday, according to court records.

City police responded to the urgent care facility on South Wilkes-Barre Boulevard when Marcus Lucien Antoine, 39, allegedly directed expletive-laced insults toward staff and attempted to push his way inside exam rooms at about 4 p.m.

According to a criminal complaint:

An officer encountered Antoine passed out and leaning against a window with a cell phone balanced on his shoulder.

When the officer tapped on Antoine’s shoulder to wake him, he immediately yelled, “What the (expletive) do you want?”

Antoine was asked by the officer to go outside to speak. In response, he yelled, “Why the (expletive) do you want me to go outside?”

Antoine had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

Several patients and children were in the lobby and moved away from Antoine when he yelled.

Antoine struggled with the officer while being handcuffed and tried to pull away as he screamed: “See what the (expletive) police are doing.”

Once outside, Antoine twisted his body and swung his elbows and legs. That caused him to fall to the ground, striking his face and resulting in a bloody lip.

The suspect continued to struggle with officers and emergency medical technicians who arrived due to his facial injury.

Antoine was arraigned Tuesday by District Judge James Haggerty in Luzerne County Central Court on four counts of disorderly conduct and one count each of resisting arrest and public drunkenness. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
