DORRANCE TWP. — Township residents would pay no more in taxes under a 2019 budget unveiled this week that totals $833,488.
Under the plan, the township’s real estate levy would stay at 0.75 mills, and the earned income tax will remain at 1 percent, half of which is shared with the Crestwood School District. A mill is $1 in tax for every $1,000 in assessed property value.
The budget, which also includes $136,388 in state liquid fuels reimbursement, is available for inspection through Dec. 10 at the municipal building on Blue Ridge Trail.
Real estate taxes are anticipated to yield $130,000; earned income taxes, $242,000; and an amusement tax, $17,000. The latter levy predominantly comes from the Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club.
Supervisors announced they will also pursue a Local Share Account grant (funds from casino gambling) to finance the tar and chipping of several township roads in the summer of 2019, including: Fairway Drive, Sandwedge Drive, Sunset Road, Small Mountain Road and Ridge Road.
Chairman Gary Zane said the amount being sought is $105,800. Secretary/treasurer Patricia Davis will administer the grant endeavor.
In other matters, supervisors:
• Approved a motion to retain the firm of Grevera & Associates for a 2018 audit at a cost of $3,450.
• Approved the minor sub-division application of Engler and Lewis.
• Approved the Bellis family sub-division plan.
• Announced that bids are being accepted by Auctions International Inc. for used equipment that includes an oil burner, hopper spreader, tail gate spreader and fuel tank. Bids are being accepted from Nov. 19 to Dec. 5.
