PITTSTON — Police arrested two men after they allegedly broke into an abandoned home and got high on canned inhalants Saturday afternoon.
Brett Pradel, 18, and Thomas Wilishesfski, age unlisted, were caught after they allegedly broke into a house owned by the city and claimed to be homeless.
According to court documents:
Police responded to a call at 219 S. Main St. for a report that two males had broken into the home through a basement door.
When authorities arrived, they saw the basement door had been damaged due to forced entry. Police walked in and could hear voices on the second floor.
Two males, later identified as Pradel and Wilishesfski, were seen “huffing duster” at the top of the steps near the bedroom. “Huffing duster” involves inhaling the contents of pressurized air duster cans, commonly used to clean electronic devices, to get high.
Police saw several cans of duster on the bedroom floor.
Both males were taken into custody.
Pradel told police he was concealing a syringe and spoon in his right sock while his left sock contained a small amount of “weed” in a plastic bag.
Pradel also admitted that he melts down Suboxone and injects himself with it.
Pradel and Wilishesfski did not have permission to enter the residence because the property is vacant and owned by the Pittston City Redevelopment Authority.
Pradel and Wilishesfski were both arraigned by District Judge Joseph D. Spagnuolo Jr. on Saturday night on burglary, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief charges plus for inhaling toxin-releasing substances.
Both were remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $35,000 each.
