JACKSON TWP. — Scott E. Henry, leader of The Martz Group, has died.

Luzerne County Coroner Bill Lisman confirmed that Henry died at home Thursday morning. Family members have been notified, Lisman said.

Henry assumed leadership of the Wilkes-Barre-based transportation company in 2015 at the age of 57, succeeding his father, Frank Henry.

The elder Henry died in June at the age of 85. Founded in 1908, Martz has been family-owned and operated for five generations, through to Scott Henry’s children.

With a fleet of more than 200 coaches, the firm has grown to provide transportation in a broad area of the East Coast including Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Florida.

At a recent reception of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, The Martz Group was given the President’s Milestone Achievement Award in recognition of their 110 years of service.

In a recent interview, Scott Henry spoke about the company’s longevity, and especially its family-like atmosphere.

“Getting to 110 years is no small feat, but it was made a lot easier with all of our great team members who have dedicated so much time and effort to the success of this organization,” Henry said.
