Two convicted murderers are scheduled to return to the Luzerne County Courthouse as they continue to appeal their life sentences.

Judge Fred A. Pierantoni scheduled an April 25 court date for Holly Crawford and a May 8 appearance for Hugo Selenski.

Crawford, 44, and Selenski, 45, are appealing their separate convictions and sentences under the state’s Post Conviction Relief Act, which is an indirect method of appeal available to those convicted of crimes on certain grounds.

Crawford and her boyfriend, James Roche, 36, were convicted by a jury in 2015 on two counts of first-degree murder for the April 2014 shooting deaths of Ronald “Barney” Evans, 73, and his son, Jeffrey Evans, 43, in Ross Township. Crawford and Roche were sentenced to two life terms in prison.

Prosecutors said Roche killed Ronald Evans in a jealous rage as Crawford was once romantically involved with the elder Evans.

Crawford’s conviction was upheld on appeal to the state Superior Court in 2016.

Selenski filed his petition for post conviction relief after the state Superior Court in 2016 upheld his conviction for the May 2002 strangulation killings of Michael J. Kerkowski and Tammy Lynn Fassett. The bodies of Kerkowski and Fassett were recovered from a shallow grave outside a Kingston Township home where Selenski lived in June 2003.

A jury convicted Selenski after a two-week trial in January 2015.
