WILKES-BARRE — Shots rang out in a city neighborhood Tuesday night for the second time in a matter of hours, striking a Dagobert Street home and drawing a massive police presence to the scene.

Police Chief Joseph Coffay said at least three shots were fired at about 8:45 p.m. Coffay said he believed the incident was tied to another case of gunfire earlier on Dana Street — and that both were connected to several other cases in recent days, which investigators believe stem from a dispute by two groups of people.

For the residents of the Dagobert Street house damaged Tuesday night, the bullets caused no injuries but shattered their sense of peace.

“We have no drama with anyone,” said Caitlin Birch, 20, who was at home in the back of 42 Dagobert St. when a bullet came through the front window.

About 10 people were inside at the time according to Birch, who said her family has lived there for about a year-and-a-half.

“This is a good block,” Birch added.

Response to the scene included city officers, state police and members of neighboring forces including Ashley and Hanover Township.
