WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Township and city police are investigating two armed robberies Thursday afternoon reportedly involving the same suspect — one outside the door of United Check Cashing on Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard and a second about an hour later on New Grant Street in the city.

According to a post on the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department Facebook page:

A victim reported that a black male with dreadlocks and wearing all black clothing demanded money while brandishing a handgun at approximately 2:20 p.m.

After the incident, the victim told authorities the suspect fled United Check Cashing toward Coal Street.

The same suspect is believed to have committed another armed robbery on New Grant Street in Wilkes-Barre City with another black male about 3:30 p.m.

Anyone with possible information on the suspects are asked to contact Ptlm. Godlewski by sending a private message to the department’s Facebook page or by calling 570-208-4635 ext. 326.
