No, you didn’t do anything wrong.

If you tried to post to Facebook or Instagram today and got error messages, you were not alone.

According to numerous reports, the social media sites were down in many parts of the U.S., including the Northeast, as well as overseas.

You can verify that on downdetector.com, but chances are you already discovered the problem for yourself.

As a testament to how much many people rely on these platforms, the outage is already making headlines on newspaper websites such as The Tennessean and The Independent.

Facebook seemed to be briefly back up as of 1 p.m., at least in our corner of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Then it went down again.

If it’s any consolation, Twitter seems to be working.

Good luck wherever you are.
