Police: Wanted man had

heroin, meth in Pittston Twp.

PITTSTON TWP. — A man wanted in Lackawanna County was caught by Pittston Township police at a service station on Route 315 on Thursday night.

Police said John Matthew Dobrowski, 33, of Archbald, was apprehended when an officer spotted him near a Toyota Highlander at Joe’s Kwik Mart at about 9 p.m.

Pittston Township officers were aware police in South Abington Township were searching for Dobrowski and a Toyota Highlander.

According to a criminal complaint:

When an officer approached Dobrowski, he identified himself using his brother’s name. Dobrowski was detained when police spotted suspected containers of methamphetamine inside the vehicle and a container filled with heroin in his pocket.

Dobrowski repeatedly identified himself as his brother. When he was transported to the State Police barracks in Wyoming to have his fingerprints electronically scanned, Dobrowski correctly identified himself.

He was arraigned Friday by District Judge Joseph Halesey in Hanover Township on charges of obstruction of justice, false identification to law enforcement, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail.

Court records say Dobrowski is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and a traffic violation filed by South Abington Township police.

WB man allegedly fought,

hurt Geisinger South guard

WILKES-BARRE — A Wilkes-Barre man was arraigned Friday on charges he assaulted a security guard at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre last year.

City police allege Barry Grencavage, 58, of Chestnut Street, was acting disorderly and yelling obscenities in the waiting area of the emergency room Sept. 4.

Grencavage was detained after he allegedly fought with officers.

Police say Grencavage was inside an emergency room when he attempted to punch a female nurse. When a security guard grabbed his arm, Grencavage shoved the guard to the floor and jumped on the guard, court papers say.

Police said the guard suffered a broken left ankle and injuries to his back and hip.

Grencavage was arraigned by District Judge Joseph Halesey in Hanover Township on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and two counts of disorderly conduct. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 bail.

Two face drug counts

after Edwardsville stop

EDWARDSVILLE — A traffic stop for an item hanging from a rear-view mirror resulted in two people being arrested when police allegedly found heroin and methamphetamine.

Police said they stopped a Hyundai Elantra, driven by Marshall Dyer III, 51, of Scranton, at Main and Wright streets, Edwardsville, at about 12:10 a.m. Friday.

Police said a passenger, Brittnay E. Isbel, 29, address listed as homeless, was wanted by the Luzerne County Sheriff’s Department.

According to criminal complaints:

When Isbel exited the vehicle, she was hesitant to answer questions and blurted out, “He gave it to me.”

Isbel removed a cellophane wrapper that contained two bundles of suspected heroin. She also reached into her bra to remove cash that was wrapped around two small bags of suspected methamphetamine.

Police then searched the vehicle, finding a glass pipe, a syringe, used packets of heroin, a vial containing meth, a straw, three packaged bags of meth and 20 Xanax pills.

Dyer denied giving the illegal narcotics to Isbel and refused to allow officers to search his cell phone.

But police learned Dyer and Isbel were at Price Chopper and that’s where he gave her the narcotics she hid in her shoe and bra.

Dyer and Isbel were arraigned by District Judge Joseph Halesey in Hanover Township.

Dyer was charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a vehicle violation. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail.

Isbel was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of a communication facility. She was also locked up for lack of $25,000 bail.
