Cops: Heroin, crack, meth
seized during fugitive arrest
EDWARDSVILLE — Borough police discovered 620 heroin or fentanyl packets, methamphetamine, crack cocaine and marijuana when they searched a residence in the Eagle Ridge Apartment Complex and arrested a fugitive Monday.
According to criminal complaints:
Police from several departments surrounded a residence based on information that Wayne Dehaven Lovett, 34, of School Street, Plains Township, was inside. Lovett was wanted on charges he assaulted a woman and damaged items inside a residence on South Main Street, Pittston, on March 19.
Police were allowed to enter the home, finding Lovett sleeping on a bed.
A glass pipe packed with marijuana was found next to Lovett and a bag of marijuana was found on a table in the bedroom.
A safe that belonged to Lovett contained 620 packets of heroin or fentanyl, 15 grams of meth, nearly 9 grams of crack cocaine and four Clonazepam pills.
Pittston police say Lovett returned to his ex-girlfriend’s residence on South Main Street on March 19, looking to retrieve shoes after he was kicked out. When Lovett was told his shoes were no longer in the residence, he demanded $250 and damaged a microwave and dishes and threw a flat-screen television that struck his ex-girlfriend’s head.
Court records say Lovett was released on $15,000 unsecured bail Feb. 6 when he was arraigned on drug trafficking charges filed by state police.
In the latest case, Lovett was charged by Edwardsville police with three counts each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, and one count each of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Pittston police charged Lovett with two counts of simple assault and one count each of criminal mischief, possessing instruments of crime, terroristic threats and harassment.
Lovett was arraigned Tuesday by District Judge David Barilla in Luzerne County Central Court and jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $150,000 total bail.
