WILKES-BARRE — A homeless man originally from New York City was arraigned Tuesday for his fifth alleged street mugging in Wilkes-Barre.

City police allege Ravone Davis, 31, and Ashavan Terrell Monroe, 22, of Haldemann Street, Wilkes-Barre, conspired to pistol-whip and beat a 37-year-old man on Butler Street on Sept. 6.

Davis was arraigned by District Judge Thomas Malloy in Wilkes-Barre two counts each of robbery and aggravated assault, and one count each of simple assault and theft. He was remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $125,000 bail on the latest charges.

Monroe was arraigned Friday on the same set of charges and jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $150,000 bail.

Police allege Davis and Monroe approached the man from behind as he walked on Butler Street. He was struck in the head with a handgun and fell to the ground, where he was beaten and robbed of his cell phone, police allege.

Police said the man suffered facial injuries and a brain injury. He told police he continues to suffer headaches as a result of the assault.

Court records say Davis has been charged with five street muggings from September to Feb. 22 when he and Monroe were arrested at an apartment in Sherman Hills, Wilkes-Barre.

Police said more charges may be filed related to other robberies and assaults.
