WILKES-BARRE — A sign on the door says Abide Coffeehouse will open for business on Monday, April 15.

The coffee shop, located at the corner of West Market and Franklin streets, will hold its grand opening Monday and begin normal operating hours of 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Looking through the windows of the coffee shop, several tables and chairs are set up and a large coffee-making station. A soft opening was held Wednesday evening and a large crowd turned out.

The sign on the door said the shop will be closed Thursday and Friday, April 11-12.

On its website, Abide Coffeehouse states:

“At Abide our goal is to bring you more than great tasting specialty coffee — we want to bring you a place that feels like home. Nestled in downtown Wilkes-Barre, we believe we’ve been gifted with a special opportunity to take part in paying homage to our city’s history while still offering a modernity that appeals to all generations.

“We are rooted in community. We want our space to be one that you truly abide at. Hang out, talk, come for events. We love that we are located between two major colleges and within the heart of a working district in Wilkes-Barre. We want to be a place that you make a part of your every day.”
