HANOVER TWP. — Authorities are investigating a crash after emergency crews were called to the Carey Avenue Bridge just before 10 p.m. Saturday night after two bicyclists were struck by a motor vehicle.
A male juvenile from Wilkes-Barre sustained unknown injuries and had to be airlifted from the scene after the crash, according to a post on the Hanover Township Police Department Facebook page.
A landing zone was set up in an open area of the township’s Breslau section.
Authorities at the scene told the Times Leader a second bike rider was examined at the scene and found to not have serious injuries.
The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured, nor was the driver of a second car related to the crash, the Facebook post added.
There was no word on whether charges might be possible, and the incident remains under investigation. Township police were assisted by Pennsylvania State Police at the scene.
