WHITE HAVEN — A memorial fund has been set up to assist the family of a 12-year-old boy who died in a bicycle crash Friday afternoon, the same day he graduated from 6th grade.

Christian Senchak was a student at Fairview Elementary School.

Christian was riding his bike in the area of Laurel and Buffalo streets around 12:30 p.m. when he collided with a vehicle. No charges have been filed.

Luzerne County Coroner Dan Hughes confirmed that the youth was pronounced dead around 1:30 p.m. at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Friends created a GoFundMe account for Christian’s family. As of 7:30 p.m. Saturday it had raised more than $8,300 toward a $15,000 goal.

“On May 31st, 2019, Christian graduated 6th grade. Also on May 31st, Christian gained his angel wings,” the page states. “Christian was taken to be with the Lord at a time so soon that we are unable to comprehend.”

“While the journey to come to terms with the emotional void remains heavy on the minds of Christian’s parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles, we can help by lessening the financial burden of funeral expenses for a wonderful son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend that will be so terribly and sorely missed,” it adds.
