WILKES-BARRE — City police allege a Wilkes-Barre man endangered other people in a pursuit when he failed to stop for dark tinted windows on Friday.

Police said they attempted to stop a Mitsubishi in the area of South Main Street near South Main Plaza for heavily tinted windows just after 10 a.m.

When police processed the license plate they learned the owner of the vehicle, identified as Dwayne Robert Greats, had an active felony warrant related to a drug trafficking charge, according to court records.

Court records say Greats initially stopped on Hanover street and an officer was able to identify him though his reflection in the side-view mirror.

When the officer stepped out of his cruiser, Greats immediately fled in the vehicle, initiating a pursuit on several city streets in a reckless manner, court records say.

Police say in court records that Greats swerved in and out of traffic causing other motorists to take evasive actions.

Greats continued to flee until he crashed on Stanton Street between Huber and Anthracite streets.

After the crash, police allege Greats fled the vehicle and began to run on foot until he gave up and laid on the ground when he was arrested.

Court records say an arrest warrant was issued for Greats on May 29 by District Judge Michael G. Dotzel on drug trafficking offenses filed by Wilkes-Barre Township police.

Greats was arraigned by District Judge Richard Cronauer in Wilkes-Barre on charged on four counts of reckless endangerment and one count each of fleeing or attempting to elude police, flight to avoid apprehension and multiple traffic citations.

He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail.
