Later this month, Back Mountain Harvest Assembly will host a grand opening at its new 40,000- square-foot worship center on Carverton Road.
Since Harvest Church began 50 years ago as Trucksville Assembly of God, with a calling to reach the world, they have prayed and faithfully sewn that seed, waiting for the harvest.
They met at their first location on Carverton Road in 1969. As the congregation grew, they purchased property located at 340 Carverton Road in Trucksville, neighboring Route 309.
They began construction on that property in 1974. After many years of growth and community involvement, the name was later changed to Back Mountain Harvest Assembly. They were in need of a larger space, and through faith and planting seeds they began a Daring Faith Giving and Spiritual Growth Campaign knowing that “with God all things are possible.”
In 2017, the construction began as they decided to build the new worship center on the same ground where year after year thousands of lives were impacted by the presentation of “The Gift,” a musical drama depicting the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It is on that spot where they laid the foundation with faith, knowing God will bring the “harvest.”
First services in the new building were held on June 30, according to Harvest’s newsletter.
The complex features a 700-seat auditorium, 3,500-square-foot stage with an off stage “green room,” state of the art sound & lighting systems, a dedicated costume department for dramas, a recording studio, capabilities to stream video globally, a vibrant, 7,000-square-foot creation themed kids’ wing and kids’ auditorium; and large lobby and concourse areas for friendship, conversations, and community engagement.
This new facility will give Harvest an established home to continue their mission: “Connecting people to God, to each other, ministry, and the world.”
“The purpose of this new ministry complex, is to impact families for Christ. We have a strong passion for individuals discovering their gifts, talents, and abilities that have been given to us by our Creator,” Pastor Raymond Petts said. “Many people think church is a boring place, but Harvest wants for our community to experience faith in an impactful way.”
