KINGSTON — Police say they arrested a 17-year-old boy over the weekend on allegations he burglarized several homes and stole items from vehicles.

Police said the boy, whose name was not released, was petitioned to Luzerne County Juvenile Court on 19 counts of theft, 11 counts each of burglary and criminal trespass, and five counts of criminal attempt to commit burglary.

The boy was arrested Saturday.

Police in recent weeks investigated a series of residential burglaries and thefts from vehicles. The suspect checked for unlocked doors on vehicles and also entered homes by opening unlocked windows and doors, police said.

The suspect prowled during the hours of 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. Most homes were occupied when they were ransacked, police said.

Police said the suspect worked quickly, taking items that were in view.

Homes and vehicles on Pringle, Cuba and Division streets and Zerby Avenue were targeted in the early hours of June 14, police reported.

Surveillance cameras recorded the suspect during one morning prowl carrying a back pack and concealing half his face with a mask or cloth.
