PLYMOUTH — Borough police apprehended a man they say ran from a traffic stop Friday night.

Police said they spotted Thomas F. Danko, 41, of 73 1/2 High St., operating a Ford truck, driving the wrong direction on High Street and failed to use a turn signal when turning onto East Shawnee Avenue just before 10 p.m.

Danko stopped the vehicle and ran from the Ford initiating a foot chase with officers, according to court records.

Police said Danko ran through a yard filled with debris.

Officers followed foot steps in dirt to 73 1/2 High St., where they encountered Amanda Davis, who owns the Ford, exiting the residence. Davis attempted to delay officers claiming no one was inside her residence, court records say.

After a short time, Davis permitted officers to search her residence where a loud commotion was heard from a balcony.

Police said Danko attempted to jump over the balcony when he was apprehended.

Danko allegedly told police he ran from the traffic stop because he knew his driver’s license was suspended and owes fines.

Danko was arraigned by District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz in Pittston on charges of escape, resisting arrest, loitering and prowling at night, disorderly conduct, driving with a suspended license and two traffic citations. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
