HANOVER TWP. — An autopsy was performed Monday on a body found in the Susquehanna River near Plymouth over the weekend.

Luzerne County Coroner Dan Hughes said the cause and manner of death is pending a state police investigation. Hughes said he could not release the gender of the body due to the investigation.

Identification will be made by dental records, Hughes said.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Gary Ross performed the autopsy.

A boater reported seeing a body floating in the river at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Rescue crews recovered the body near Bridge Street in Plymouth.
