WILKES-BARRE — The move of Berkshire Hathaway GUARD operations to Public Square is nearing completion.

A spokesperson for the company said the remodeling of eight of the 10 floors at GUARD Tower at 39 Public Square has been completed.

The spokesperson also said more than 700 employees are now working at Berkshire Hathaway GUARD in downtown Wilkes-Barre. More are expected to be hired, the spokesperson said, and the completion of the remodeling project is expected by early to mid-October.

In April, Berkshire Hathaway GUARD reported that it was in the process of moving its operations into the Tower on the Square and 664 full-time employees were working in Wilkes-Barre.

The spokesperson said when the building’s remodeling is completed, the company will have space to accommodate approximately 1,000 employees.

And after all 10 floors of the GUARD Tower are fully occupied, the company will continue to hold onto two other buildings in the downtown — with employees at its three-story building on Market Street (the former M&T Bank building) and the five-story building on Frazer Lane.

The remodeling of GUARD Tower, the new 10-story headquarters of Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Co. on Public Square, is nearing completion.
