KINGSTON TWP. — A man from western Pennsylvania charged earlier this month on allegations he sent two men nude pictures of his ex-girlfriend was arraigned in Luzerne County Wednesday night.
Roy John Yanvary, 44, was jailed at the Butler County Prison for about a week when Luzerne County detectives obtained an arrest warrant Aug. 1 charging him with distributing obscene sexual materials.
Yanvary, of Butler in Butler County, was transported to Luzerne County when he was arraigned by District Judge Brian J. Tupper in Kingston Township. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
According to the criminal complaint:
A woman told detectives she was in a relationship with Yanvary from late June 2018 until early April. She claimed she was unaware Yanvary had nude images of her he took when she was sleeping or passed out.
A man identified as cooperating witness 1 told detectives he received a Facebook message from Yanvary on April 19 showing a topless image of the woman. The witness said he received a second message from Yanvary stating he had talked with the “cops,” and that since the images were on his phone they belonged to him.
Yanvary later sent the man 14 additional photos of the woman in a nude and semi-nude state, the complaint says.
A man identified as cooperating witness 2 told detectives he received a Facebook message from Yanvary on April 21 containing “compromising and pornographic (nude) images of the victim,” the complaint says.
Yanvary told detectives he did not remember sending the nude images to cooperating witness 2 but that he “must have been drunk and pissed off at her.”
Yanvary claimed he took the nude images of the woman with her consent during their relationship for his own personal use when he wants to remember her, according to the complaint.
