WRIGHT TWP. — The Crestwood School Board recently approved a series of payments encompassing construction work on the fieldhouse which is being erected at the stadium on the secondary school campus.

The largest of these payments was $282,150 to Scandale Associates, builders and engineers, the general construction contractor. Remittance, it was stated by the school board, is from the capital projects fund.

Other payments included:

• $40,036 to Kobalt Construction;

• $2,367 to Scranton Electric Heating and Cooling;

• $24,165 to G.R. Noto Electrical Construction Inc.;

• $47,628 to Scranton Electric (payment No. 3 for plumbing work);

And, two payments to the Quad 3 engineering groups; $11,679 and $1,700.

In addition, the board approved payments to:

• M. Abraham Flooring, $500 for work in the STEM lab;

• $281,002 to Weatherproofing Technologies Inc.;

• $3,495 to the Northeastern Pennsylvania Diversity Consortium.

The board also passed a resolution which it said is designed to accelerate tax collection payments during the “current financial problems facing the district.” In essence, policy is now that “the district may require (tax) payments from tax collectors to the district treasurer more often that the periods provided by statute.”

The board also approved:

• A change in the retirement date for Diane Waskle to Sept. 11, 2019.

• A $4,000 increase in pay for the secretary to the superintendent Stephanie Otero.

• A $1.05 per hour increase for the district’s confidential secretary Cyndy Davis.

• Student population for the 2019-20 term is listed at: 630 students at Fairview Elementary, 808 at Rice Elementary, and 1,385 at the secondary campus. Total: 2,823.

• In-service meetings for the professional staff have been scheduled on Aug. 21, 22, and 23. Classes begin on Aug. 26.
