HAZLETON — A local man was taken into custody Friday after a routine traffic stop revealed him to be in possession of cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin, as well as a gun.

David Negron, 25, of Hazleton has been charged with multiple counts of possession with intent to deliver, as well as a felony weapons charge after police searched his car at a traffic stop in the area of 11th and Church streets.

Negron was in the car with another 21-year-old male at the time of the stop, around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. Arresting officers searched the car and came up with a loaded .22-caliber handgun, roughly 29 grams of methamphetamine, over 100 bags of heroin and a bag of powder cocaine.

Negron was taken into custody by the officers and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed.

An arraignment followed on Saturday in front of Judge Brian James Tupper, and a hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11. Negron was unable to post $75,000 in bail.
