WILKES-BARRE — A man was shot in the head in the 400 block of Blackman Street early Tuesday morning, city police said.

Police responded to a residence between Hazle and Anthracite streets just after 1:30 a.m. discovering a man sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

He was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.

Police released a be-on-the-look-out for a silver Kia SUV with a Missouri license plate shortly after the shooting. Police later recovered the vehicle.

Two people were detained for questioning.

State police Forensic Services Unit and Luzerne County detectives assisted at the scene.

Blackman Street, which was closed in the area of the scene, has since reopened.
