WILKES-BARRE TWP. — A popular kid’s entertainment shop is getting ready to open a store in Wilkes-Barre Township, and they promise you’ll have a bear of a good time.

Build-A-Bear Workshop, which offers a unique experience that allows customers to design and then physically build their own teddy bears, will be opening a shop inside Walmart, located on Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard, a company spokesperson confirmed Thursday afternoon.

The store will officially open on Thursday, Sept. 12, and will offer the full line of Build-A-Bear experiences, including the signature “Make-Your-Own” experience. The store will also have pre-made furry friends and accessories to go with them.

The store’s official opening will be held at 10 a.m. next week, shortly after a ribbon-cutting ceremony which will feature the company’s mascot, Bearemy — which the spokesperson assured was very “huggable.”

The store will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and can play host to a variety of party packages as well.

This workshop is the first the company is opening in our part of the state, with the next nearest store being in Lehigh Valley Mall, Whitehall Township.

Build-A-Bear Workshop has more than 450 stores worldwide.

A Build-A-Bear Workshop like this will soon be opening up inside the Wilkes-Barre Township Walmart, a spokesperson confirmed Thursday.
