WILKES-BARRE — A Nanticoke man pleaded guilty to choking and sexually assaulting a woman in April 2018.

Peter Nicholas Kolacz, 33, of West Church Street, pleaded guilty to strangulation and aggravated indecent assault before Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough on Tuesday.

Prosecutors withdrew charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful restraint, sexual assault, indecent assault and simple assault against Kolacz.

Nanticoke police arrested Kolacz in July 2018 after a woman went to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, on April 5.

Police said the woman made up a story about her injuries when she initially went to the emergency room because she was scared.

In subsequent medical appointments, she claimed she suffered injuries when she was assaulted by Kolacz, court records say.

Court records say the woman told police she was inside Kolacz’s residence when he grabbed her, banged her head against the floor, placed her in a choke hold and covered her mouth and nose during the assaults.

Kolacz is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 16.
