BUTLER TWP. — A Lackawanna County woman has died following a Tuesday crash near the I-81/I-80 junction, state police said.
Anita M. Demey, 23, of Scranton, was a passenger in Chevrolet Blazer which overturned at about 6:45 p.m. on the I-81 southbound ramp onto I-80 eastbound, troopers said.
The driver, Allen W. Storms, 24, of Old Forge, was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries, according to police.
Demey also was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton and pronounced dead a short time later, troopers said.
Valley Regional EMS and Valley Regional Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene, and the state police collision analysis and reconstruction unit also responded.
Investigation into the crash continues.
