WILKES-BARRE — Drug agents arrested a man they say took a 3-year-old girl to sell methamphetamine in exchange for cash and SD memory cards Wednesday.

Ronald Kent, 41, of Lincoln Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested during a traffic stop after he allegedly delivered methamphetamine inside his vehicle in the area of Beaumont and Madison streets at about 3 p.m.

Authorities said the child was inside the vehicle when Kent was arrested.

According to the criminal complaint:

Troopers with the state police Vice Unit, city police and Luzerne County Drug Task Force arranged to buy methamphetamine via text message with Kent.

Kent agreed to deliver methamphetamine in the area of Beaumont and Madison streets in exchange for cash and 128 gig SD memory cards.

Kent arrived in a Hyundai and made the deal, the complaint says.

Shortly after Kent drove away, he was arrested during a traffic stop when the child was located inside the vehicle.

Police said the child was taken into protective custody. The child’s mother told police Kent was supposed to be babysitting while she was at work, the complaint says.

Police searched Kent allegedly finding a child’s pink sock pinned to the inside of his underwear used to hide narcotics. Cash and four 128 gig SD memory cards were found inside the vehicle, the complaint says.

Kent was arraigned by District Judge Michael Dotzel in Wilkes-Barre Township on two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, criminal use of communication facility and endangering the welfare of children.

Court records say Kent was jailed for lack of $100,000 bail but there was no record of him being incarcerated at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on Thursday.
