Luzerne County Drug and Alcohol Director Steven Ross has resigned effective Nov. 22, county Manager C. David Pedri announced Monday.

Ross has worked in the county agency, which also covers Wyoming County, for 19 years, Pedri said.

“We are grateful for Steve’s leadership and service at both the county and state level and for all of his work to strengthen the services offered to those throughout the community,” Pedri wrote.

Ross was promoted to the drug and alcohol administrator position in 2016 and previously worked as the agency’s fiscal officer, the release said.

Ryan Hogan, the agency’s deputy administrator, will be the primary point of contact, Pedri said.

”We are confident that Ryan will be a strong leader during this transition and going forward,” he wrote.

The release did not elaborate on any reason for Ross’s departure.

The county also has vacancies overseeing two other county departments.

Marisa Crispell resigned as county election director Sept. 6, and Anthony Alu is retiring as assessment director the end of this year.

The county has received 20 applications for the election director position and five for assessment director, officials said last week.
