NANTICOKE — An abducted teen has been found safe and an Amber Alert has been canceled, State Police at Wyoming said at about 10:45 p.m. Sunday.

Further information about the incident involving Samara Derwin, 15, was not immediately available, a trooper at the Wyoming Barracks said.

It was unclear what the status of her alleged abductor, Jordan Oliver, was.

Troopers earlier Sunday night issued an Amber Alert for Derwin after she was reported abducted by Oliver, 20, who allegedly stole a Nanticoke Police Department SUV at knifepoint after assaulting an officer.

The incident began around 3:20 p.m. after police were called to Greater Nanticoke Area High School where a man reportedly was holding a woman at knifepoint, acting Nanticoke Police Chief Robert Lehman said.

Attempted negotiations failed, and the suspect overpowered an officer before fleeing with the SUV and the hostage.

An officer did open fire, Lehman said, but no one was struck. The officer who was assaulted was taken to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for treatment.
