FORTY FORT — Thomas Alexander, tax collector of Forty Fort Borough, announces that Dec. 31, 2019 is the end of the penalty period and the last day to pay 2019 Wyoming Valley West School District real estate taxes and 2019 County/Municipal real estate taxes.

For all bills paid through Dec. 31, 2019, penalty amounts will be collected. All property tax payments must be postmarked and received by this office no later than Dec. 31, 2019. Any unpaid taxes will be turned over to the Northeast Revenue Services at the Luzerne County Tax Claim Bureau with additional penalties added to all outstanding bills.

Only official bank checks, certified checks, money orders or cash will be accepted. No personal checks will be accepted.

In person collection will be available at the office located in the Forty Fort borough building from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019. Please bring a copy of your bill with you if you are paying in-person at the borough building.

Also, payments may be mailed to P.O. Box 124, Luzerne, Pa. 18709 or payments (no cash)may be dropped off in the “tax collector” mailbox located in the center hall lockers of the borough building.

Anyone needing a receipt must include the whole bill in its entirety along with a stamped self-addressed envelope, otherwise a receipt will not be sent.

The office will be closed for in person collection starting on Jan. 1, 2019 and remain closed until County/Municipal Taxes are mailed in February.
