LUZERNE — After 22 years, The Medicine Shoppe on Main Street will close.

Tony Raineri, owner, said the store will cease operations on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Raineri and his staff have accepted positions at Rite Aid on Union Street. He said he has recommended that his customers make the switch to Rite Aid.

“I’ve been doing this a long time,” Raineri said. “I’ve been a pharmacist for 35 years and I just felt it was time to slow down a little and work for someone else. The Medicine Shoppe has been great to me and Rite Aid as well has made this decision easy.”

Raineri said his franchise agreement with The Medicine Shoppe is up and he didn’t want to renew it.

Raineri also said he wanted to thank his loyal customers for their business over the years.
