PITTSTON — City police say they arrested Eli Quadree Smith, 25, on charges he shot a man during a home invasion on Elizabeth Street early Sunday morning.

Police said the victim, whose name was not released, was shot inside the residence and ran for help at the Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance Station on South Main Street at about 12:30 a.m.

Police said the victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Smith was arrested near the Elizabeth Street residence.

Police said the victim reported he was inside the home with a woman when Smith entered. Smith allegedly assaulted the woman before shooting the victim.

Smith, of Pittston, was arraigned by District Judge Michael G. Dotzel in Wilkes-Barre Township on charges of aggravated assault, burglary, criminal trespass, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure and two counts each of reckless endangerment and simple assault. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $250,000 bail.
