WILKES-BARRE — Once again, Hugo Selenski will be appearing in court, but by video.

The convicted double-murderer, whose name is infamous in the Wyoming Valley, will appear before Luzerne County Judge Fred A. Pierantoni III on Feb. 4.

Records show Selenski, who is currently serving life sentences in the State Correctional Institute at Fayette, will appear before Pierantoni via video conference call.

Selenski, 46, was convicted by a jury in 2015 in the May 2002 strangulation deaths of Michael J. Kerkowski and Tammy Lynn Fassett, whose bodies were later found in a shallow grave outside a Kingston Township home in which Selenski had lived.

Selenski’s hearing scheduled for Feb. 4 comes after he filed a petition for post-conviction relief after the state Superior Court upheld his convictions in 2016. In the filing, Selenski makes numerous claims for relief, including that he had ineffective counsel at trial.

While Selenski’s hearing is currently scheduled, it is worth noting that the hearing has been repeatedly rescheduled, having been previously set for last May, August and for three days earlier this month.
