WILKES-BARRE — One of four female inmates at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility charged last year with trading and using methamphetamine inside the facility was sentenced Monday.

President Judge Michael T. Vough sentenced Jamie Lynn Brownlie, 37, of White Haven, to two-to-four years in state prison on a single count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Brownlie pleaded guilty to the charge Aug. 1.

Brownlie along with Joleen Gambardella, 38, of Hazle Township, Aubreana Sophia Hosey, 21, of West Hazleton, and Linzy A. Chodnicki, 31, of Duryea, were charged in March after a two month investigation by Hanover Township police, the Luzerne County Drug Task Force and Luzerne County Corrections Administration.

Court records say Brownlie was accused of concealing methamphetamine in a body cavity when she was jailed in January.

Brownlie then began to provide meth to Gambardella and other inmates using Hosey and Chodnicki, who were working as the facility’s “monitors” on the female block.

A prison monitor is given the task to make sure no other inmates harm themselves, court records say.

Brownlie admitted she slipped methamphetamine into pockets to avoid attention of hand-to-hand exchanges. She received shower shoes, sweatpants, sweatshirts and hygiene products for meth, and Gambardella received approximately $150 to $180 of items from inmates in exchange for the drug, court records say.

Gambardella pleaded guilty to possession of contraband by an inmate but has filed a motion seeking to withdraw her guilty plea.

Hosey pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and as sentenced Nov. 14 to 10 to 22 months in prison.

Chodnicki pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance on Nov. 4. A sentencing disposition for Chodnicki could not be obtained Monday.
