HANOVER TWP. — Rolling traffic stoppages is scheduled Tuesday for the southbound lanes of Route 29 as construction crews remove beams from a bridge rehabilitation project.

Southbound traffic will be periodically stopped as beams are removed between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Wednesday, crews are scheduled to remove beams that will temporarily stop traffic traveling the northbound lanes of Route 29.

The bridge crossing Route 29 near Sugar Notch and the east entrance to the Hanover Industrial Park is being replaced by Minichi, Inc., of Dupont.

Construction began in December when a temporary traffic signal was installed directing traffic to one lane crossing the bridge. The bridge is heavily used by tractor-trailer drivers and employees of various businesses and warehouses in the industrial park to access Interstate 81 from Route 29.

Once the west side of the bridge is completed, crews will then move to rehabilitate the eastern side of the bridge.

The $4 million bridge rehabilitation project is expected to finish by July 2021.
