A statement issued from the office of state Sen. John Yudichak, I-Swoyersville, on Wednesday announced that the state Senate passed a resolution allowing senators to vote remotely.

Senate Resolution 318 allows for state senators to vote even when they cannot be physically present at the Capitol Building in Harrisburg. This allows for senators to maintain social distance as coronavirus mitigation efforts are taking place all over the state, and the country.

The resolution creates a mechanism through which senators could file bills electronically, and to participate in community meetings and sessions remotely through the use of communications technologically.

These rules are temporary, and will expire on July 31 or 10 days after Gov. Tom Wolf’s emergency order expires, whichever comes first.
